TheTVApp Supported Devices
TheTVApp works in a web browser. You do not need a cable subscription or a sign up to open the channel list and start watching. The table below shows which devices it runs on and the minimum each one needs. If your device meets the minimum, HD streams should run fine. If it falls short, you will most likely see buffering or a player that never loads.
Devices and minimum requirements
| Device | Minimum requirement | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Android TV | Android 6.0 or higher | Stability and program guide |
| Amazon Firestick | Fire OS 6.0 to 8.0 | Large screen TV viewing |
| Roku TV | Roku OS 11.0 or higher | Budget setup |
| Smartphones | iOS 16 or higher, Android 9.0 or higher | Watching on the go |
| PC or laptop | 4GB RAM, dual core CPU | Multitasking |
| Web browser | Latest Chrome or Edge | Desktop control |
Android TV
Open the site in your TV browser and pick a channel. Android 6.0 or higher is the minimum, and a newer version will handle HD streams more smoothly. If the program guide feels slow, that is usually a sign the TV is near its limit rather than a problem with the stream itself.
Amazon Firestick
Firestick runs the site through its browser. Open the site in the Silk or Firefox browser on the Firestick, then select your stream. Fire OS 6.0 to 8.0 is the supported range. A Firestick plugged into a TV is the simplest way to get the channels on a big screen.
Roku TV
Roku has no full browser, so you do not open the site directly on the TV. Instead, cast from your phone with the Web Video Caster app, or use your phone’s built in screen mirroring. Roku OS 11.0 or higher is the minimum on the TV side. Once casting starts, the phone acts as the remote.
Smartphones
On a phone, everything runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install. You need iOS 16 or higher on an iPhone, or Android 9.0 or higher on an Android phone. A phone is the best option when you are away from the TV, and it is also how you cast to a Roku.
PC or laptop
A PC or laptop gives you the most control, with a full keyboard and the option to keep several tabs open. The minimum is 4GB of RAM and a dual core CPU. Use the latest Chrome or Edge for the best result, since an old browser version is a common cause of a player that will not load.
If a stream does not load on your device
First check that your device meets the minimum in the table above. If it does and the stream still fails, the fault is rarely the device. Work through our TheTVApp not working guide, which covers dead links, black screens, and buffering in order.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Do I need to install an app to use TheTVApp?
A: No. It works in a web browser on every device listed above, and you do not need an account or a sign up to start watching.
Q: Does TheTVApp work on Roku?
A: Yes, but not through a browser on the TV itself, because Roku has no full browser. Cast from your phone with the Web Video Caster app, or use screen mirroring.
Q: My device is older than the minimum listed. Will it still work?
A: It may open the site, but HD streams will most likely buffer or fail to load. If you can, update the device software first, or switch to a device that meets the minimum.
